Petition against Da Vinci Code
Kochi, May 23 (UNI) A writ petition has been filed before the Kerala High Court seeking to set aside the permission given to exhibit the controversial film ''Da Vinci Code'' in India.
In the peition, filed by Basil Attipaati, it was submitted that the permission given by the Central Board of film Certification was arbitrary and violative of guidelines prescribed under different sections of the Cinematographic Act.
According to the petitioner, the film presented a distorted picture of Jesus Christ's life. Article 25 of the Constitution guaranteed freedom of conscience as a fundamental right to citizens.
The State of Kerala, Director General of Police, Central Board of Film Certification, Mumbai were the respondents in the petition. It might come up for preliminary hearing tomorrow.
