'Pak's weak JK policy damaged separatist task'

Srinagar, May 23: Pakistan Occupied Kashmir (POK) based United Jihad Council (UJC), an alliance of different militant outfits operating in Jammu and Kashmir, has said the Pakistan government's weak policy and the role being played by some Kashmiri leaders had damaged the ongoing movement.

Reacting to two-day Round Table conference called by Prime Minister Manmohan Singh here from tomorrow, the UJC spokesman in a faxed message to local mediapersons has termed it a conspiracy to weaken the ''Kashmir movement.'' Almost all the separatist organisations, including both the factions of the Hurriyat Conference, have rejected the offer to participate in the conference.

He said the Pakistan government's ''weak and apologetic'' policy and the '' pointless moderation'' shown by some Kashmiri leaders had caused damage to the movement.

Without naming anyone, he said now some moderates are playing as political showmen and keep knocking at New Delhi door for talks.

These leaders, he said, are dreaming to make a breakthrough in these conferences without taking into consideration the past experience with India.

''India was never serious in resolving Kashmir through peaceful talks,'' he calleged adding holding such conferences was aimed at hoodwinking the International opinion and strengthening the military grip over the state.
