OIL well set on fire
Guwahati, May 23 (UNI) Suspected angry contract employees of the Oil India Limited (OIL) today set on fire three abandoned oil well inside the Digboi reserve forest of Tinsukia district.
The OIL source confirmed that though none of the three had any strategic value, the OIL authorities were shocked at the level of sabotage.
The employees, demanding better pay package and perks, clashed with security forces yesterday following altercation between the agitating employees and the management.
All the well immediately caught fire destroying some other OIL property inside the jungle.
None had been arrested so far but the CISF had increased their presence throughout the OIL installation apprehending sabotage by the contract laboureres.
