'No compromise of Pakistan's national interest'
Islamabad, May 23: Pakistan has not asked the United Nations (UN) for mediation to resolve the Kashmir issue but Washington is playing its role behind the scene on the matter, according to Foreign Minister Mr. Kasuri.
Delivering a policy statement in the Senate here, Khurshid Kasuri said that Pakistan has never taken any dictation from the US nor has requested it for arbitration on the Kashmir issue. He recalled that Pakistan had differed several times with the US in the United Nations Security Council.
Mr. Kasuri has said that Pakistan, though an US ally, has neither compromised its national interests nor would do so in future.
Regarding Dr. Qadeer Khan, Khushid Kasuri said that Pakistan was certainly under pressure, but the government would not divert on this issue.
He said that Pakistan was not in favour of any military action against Iran, as it would destabilize the region. He said that Pakistan has already made sacrifices on the Afghanistan issue.
