NC threat on Round-Table disappointing: PDP
Srinagar, May 23: Jammu and Kashmir Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has expressed disappointment over National Conferences' (NC) threat that it will not attend the two-day round-table conference being held here from tomrrow if Prime Minister Manmohan Singh met Hurriyat Conference leaders sepatarately.
A spokesman of the PDP by government, said introducing conditionalities at this stage, the NC would in no way help the quest for a durable peace and resolution of the issue.
Dismissing the possibility of Dr Singh meeting the Hurriyat conference on the sidelines of the conference he said it was part of their(NC) traditional disruptive role in state politics.
He said the state has suffered during all these years and it is time that all the parties play a constructive role in making the dialogue process successful.
By objecting to the possibility of a meeting between the Hurriyat conference and the Prime Minister, the NC has exposed its real intent and character, he added.
The spokesman said the PDP would welcome all parties concerned with the issue to participate in the Prime Ministers initiative and contribue to a final a solution acceptable to all.
The NC president Omar Abdullah had threatned to boycott the round-table conference if Dr Singh meets the moderate HC leaders on the sidelines of the conference.
