Mishap to Chennai-Jaipur Express averted, track sinks into earth
Jaipur, May 23 (UNI) In a freak accident today, one coach of Chennai-Jaipur Express narrowly escaped derailment due to a fractured railway track near the railway station here.
The incident occured around 0908 hrs near the Ajmer-Brigde-Hasanpura gate as the track sank into the earth. North Western Railway's Senior deputy general manager S. B. Gandhi said the three-tier coach, AS-4, which consequently sank into the earth as a result of fractured track, was fifth from the engine.
The railway authorities immediately sent a rescue team to the site.
However no obstructions occured in the main line due to the accident. Senior officials, including General Manager S B Bhattacharya, reached the accident spot. The tracks were fixed around 1100 hrs.
