Medical services crippled with doctors indefinite strike
Chandigarh, May 23 (UNI) Medical services in most government and private medical colleges in Punjab, Haryana and Union Territory of Chandigarh remained adversely affected on the ninth day today as resident doctors and medical students continued with their stir against reservation.
At PGIMER here, regular OPD remained closed but striking resident doctors ran parallel OPD in tents and examined 574 patients.
In Government Medical College and Hospital, OPDs were officially shut down to strengthen emergency services. The resident doctors and medical students continued with their relay hunger strike.
In Amritsar, medical services were affected at Guru Nanak Hospital, SGPC run Guru Ram Dass Institute of Medical Services and Research. Striking residents doctors here ran parallel OPD services in the Institute's canteen.
Medical services at Dayananad Medical College (DMC), Ludhiana were affected. However, Christian Medical College (CMC) continued to function normally.
Medical services in PGIMS, Rohtak were hit as resident doctors and medical students continued with their hunger strike.
The emergency and OPD services were hit in two government hospitals in Patiala but protesting resident doctors run parallel OPD and examined patients.
