Mumbai, May 23: Larsen&Toubro (L&T) has announced that its ECC division has secured three packages worth Rs 347 crore from the Kerala Water Authority (KWA) for the construction of treated water transmission main and associated works.

Aided by Japan Bank for International Co-operation (JBIC), the packages are a part of the water supply improvement schemes, which will benefit around 43 lakh people in Kerala, the company informed the BSE today.

The project objective is to augment and rehabilitate water supply systems of the urban regions, Thiruvananthapuram and Kozhikode in Kerala.

When completed, the project will ensure drinking water supply to the people in the benefitted areas in these districts.

International consultants TCE Consortium, led by Tokyo Engineering Consultants Company Ltd, Japan, will be assisting KWA throughout the implementation of the project.

Major scope of work includes - supply, laying, jointing, testing and commissioning of various pipelines running to about 170 km and providing electrical, instrumentation and automation works.

The project is scheduled for completion by February, 2008.
