HC to deliver order on Tirodkar's bail tomorrow
Mumbai, May 23 (UNI) The Bombay High Court has reserved its order till tomorrow on whether to grant permanent bail or cancel the interim bail granted to a former crime reporter, Ketan Tirodkar, in a case pertaining to his alleged links with Karachi-based don Chota Shakil gang members.
The case will come up before vacation judge A M Khanvilkar.
Tirodkar, booked under MCOCA, had lodged a complaint with the designated court alleging that encounter specialist Daya Nayak had links with the underworld. He had also alleged that Nayak possessed assets disproportionate to his known sources of income.
Following the private complaint, the special court had directed the crime branch to conduct a probe against Nayak. Later, however, police gave a clean chit to Nayak and registered a case against Tirodkar for his nexus with the underworld.
Tirodkar was arrested under MCOCA but was later granted interim bail by the designated court.
Meanwhile, he had filed another petition in the High Court seeking direction to initiate probe against Nayak under the Prevention of Corruption Act.
The Anti Corruption Bureau, probing the case, had registered an offence against Nayak, his wife Komal and associate Rajan Padte.
They were arrested and later granted bail by the court.
