Govt to develop Kalka-Pattan for adventure tourism
Shimla, May 23 (UNI) Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh said that the grandeur of Kalka-Pattan in Chohara block of Rohru Sub-Division in the district would be explored for adventure tourism.
The Chief Minister addressed a public meeting at Khabal in Chohara block after dedicating the nine kilometer long Bagi-Khabal road constructed at a cost of Rs 62 lakh to the people of the area last evening.
The Chief Minister said that Kalka-Pattan is one of the virgin and unexploited tourist destinations which could be exploited for adventure tourism after taking all aspects into consideration.
He said that Rs five crore plan was already under implementation for the tourism promotion activities on Chanshal Heights where basic infrastructure would be created for winter sports, trekking expeditions and adventure activities. He said that it would help in strengthening the economy of the area besides opening employment avenues for the unemployed.
The CM said that Himachal Pradesh has been blessed with immense natural beauty and has potential to cater to all types of tourists and added that it was being exploited with ecological safeguards for promotion of tourism activities.
He said that the State is globally recognised as a prominent tourist destination and lakhs of tourists visit it round the year.
He said that the State has potential for eco-tourism, adventure tourism, water sports and religious tourism besides these, there are snow peaks and mountaineering sites, rare in the world.
He said that the State had adopted the slogan of ''Himachal for all reasons and all seasons'' as tourism activities were taking place round the year.
Mr Singh said that his Government was working on dispersal of tourism activities and involving rural masses in promotion of tourism, since enthusiasts from world over are coming to the State to know the living style, customs, traditions and other rural activities, which would boost the rural tourism.
He said that the State had most valuable asset of rare wildlife, flora and fauna which has also been a source of attraction for wildlife lovers. He added that similarly the State has a number of prominent religious shrines visited by the devotees from all over the world.
