Former DGP, his MLA wife encroaching graveyard land: KKM
Lucknow, May 23 (UNI) A former Uttar Pradesh police chief and his MLA wife are encroaching upon a graveyard land, the Kisan Kalyan Manch alleged today.
Talking to reporters here, Manch president Rizwan Ahmed claimed that former DGP Yashpal Singh, who is posted as UP Police Housing Corporation MD and his MLA wife Geeta Singh had encroached upon land of Lucknow's biggest wakf graveyard in Gomti Nagar area here.
He said the ruling party MLA had even written to state wakf minister Shakir Ali to regularise the encroachment. ''In her letter she had claimed the land was sold to her by villagers and now she wanted to grow plants in that area,'' Ahmed added.
He also criticised the Sunni Wakf Board for merely protesting the encroachment and not taking firm action.
The Manch warned if the district administration failed to take action within two weeks, it would gherao the Vidhan Bhawan building.
