Commemorative coin on Sree Narayana Guru's 150th birth anniversary

New Delhi, May 23 (UNI) The government has decided to bring out a commemorative coin to mark the 150th birth anniversary of revered sage and social reformer Sree Narayana Guru.

Finance Minister P Chidambaram said the government has approved the minting of the commemorative coin and it would take 3-4 months to manufacture it.

The Finance Ministry, which issues commemorative coins, has sought the authenticated paper design for the commemorative coin for Sree Narayana Guru.

In a letter to Lok Sabha Member from Kerala, P C Thomas, the Finance Minister said his Ministry would also require the logo of the coin, both in Hindi and English.

Born in 1856, Sree Narayana Guru transformed the social face of Kerala by revolting against Brahminical dominance.
