Chennai-Jaipur Express escapes derailment

Jaipur, May 23: In a freak incident, one of the coaches of the Chennai-Jaipur Express escaped a derailment today when it reached the Jaipur railway station, where the train track had sunk into the earth.

Though there were no reports of any casualty or damage, chaos prevailed in the station and later a crane moved the coach and the track was fixed.

The incident occured around 0915 hours when the Chennai-Jaipur Express reached the Jaipur railway station. Though the coach sabk a bit, there was no derailment, said Mr S B Gandhi, senior deputy general manager, North-Western Railway.

The passengers of the coach got down safely.

Investigations were on to ascertain the cause of the incident, Mr Gandhi said.
