BC unions to launch relay hunger strike from May 29 in AP
Hyderabad , May 23 (UNI) Forty-six Backward Class (BC) Welfare unions formed as 'Reservation protection committee' will launch a relay hunger strike from May 29, demanding the government to provide reseravtion for OBCs in top educational institutions.
Addressing a press conference here, committee convenor R Krishnaiah said they would continue the relay hunger strike till the government responded positively.
Stating that the OBCs were entitled for reservation in top educational institutions as per the 93rd amendment in the Constitution and the Mandal Commission recommedations, he said there was no meaning in protesting against government's proposal for providing reservation for the OBCs.
Mr Krishnaiah said the people who were participating in the anti-reservation protests should withdraw their stir. They must understand the problems faced by the OBCs due to lack of higher education facilities to them.
