4 lakh IT
Kolkata, May 23 : IT and IT enabled services in West Bengal will grow by a whopping 50 per cent in just a year, according to a recent Infosys study.
State IT secretary G D Gautama said here today, ''In a Vision document, we have envisaged nearly 4 lakh IT and ITES professionals in near future compared to 40,000 now.'' Kolkata has become one of the preferred IT destinations in the country. The existing companies are expanding and a number of new players are also entering the city, he added.
The research has put Pune and Kolkata in the same bracket as centres of growth.
The study has also projected that European and US companies would be investing in this sector in both the cities.
