27 pc quota a ploy to gain political mileage: BJP

New Delhi, May 23 : In its initial reaction, the BJP termed the government decision to implement 27 per cent reservation for OBCs in higher educational institutions a ''ploy to gain political mileage''.

''Their real intention is not to help economically and socially backwards,'' BJP Vice President Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi told UNI.

He said the government by such a decision was trying to confuse the nation for its own political gains.

The government tonight decided to implement in letter and spirit the 93rd Constitutional Amendment enabling 27 per cent reservation for OBCs in higher educational institutions.

The government would also bring a specific Bill in the Monsoon Session of Parliament in this regard.
