12 UANF ultras surrender in Meghalaya
Shillong, May 23 (UNI) Twelve fresh recruits of the United Achick National Front (UANF) surrendered in Tura, dealing a blow to the outfit's efforts to consolidate its base in the Garo Hills.
The cadres had joined the UANF last month and they were coaxed into joining the outfit by some of its senior leaders, police sources said.
The cadres surrendered yesterday before Mr F D Sangma, Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG) of the Western Range.
The surrender took place at an simple official ceremony at Tura.
However, they have not deposited any weapons.
