SP to protest against essential commodities price hike
Lucknow, May 22 (UNI) The ruling Samajwadi Party today announced to hold district level demonstration against the price hike of essential commodities in the first week of June.
The party would also launch a drive at the block level to address people's problems and grievances.
SP has also planned to hold a week's special drive from june 1, to enroll 200 active party members in each assembly constituency.
The decision was taken during a meeting of district party chiefs here, presided over by chief minister Mulayam Singh Yadav.
SP has decided to constitute booth level committees, so that the members are trained well before the assembly polls.
Addressing a news conference, state party president Ram Sharan Das and general secretary Shivpal Singh Yadav said the demonstration would be held against the price hike of essential commodities including fuel and foodgrains.
The party leaders said block level 'Jan Jagran' would be held to solve people's problems and aware them about the development schemes being run by the government for the upliftment of poor.
''We have already launched such programmes in Bundelkhand region and received good response,'' Mr Yadav claimed.
Mr Das said there were several programmes including pension schemes for the poor and Kanya Vidyadhan, which should be brought before the masses.
