Shramjivi blast accused remanded in judicial custody
Jaunpur, May 22 (UNI) The prime accused in last year's Patna-New Delhi Shramjivi Express bomb blast case was today remanded to judicial custody till June 3 by a court.
On May 16 last, Obaid-ur-Rehman was remanded in railway police custody. He was taken to several places, however, nothing material could be extracted from him.
Earlier, he was produced before Chief Judicial Magistrate (CJM) Indra Bhushan Goyal.
Obaid-ur-Rehman alias Babu was lodged in the district jail after he was brought here from Murshidabad, West Bengal. He is a native of Bangladesh.
The bomb blast aboard Shramjivi Express on July 28, 2005 near Singramau railway station in Jaunpur had claimed at least 14 lives, while about 90 persons were wounded.
Meanwhile, a fracas took place between newspersons and the district jail administration when they tried to click the terror accused.
The camera of a news channel journalist was also broken by the jail officials. Later, senior district officials had rushed to the spot.
