'Centre intervention to stop massacres in Bihar'
New Delhi, May 22: RJD members in the Rajya Sabha today demanded Central intervention in Bihar for stopping the massacre of innocents taking place in the state.
Raising the issue during zero hour, Mr Mangni Lal Mandal and Mr Ramdeo Bhandari referred to the killing of seven people in Nalanda and alleged that the Bihar government had been rendered helpless as murders and kidnappings continued unabated.
Mr Ramdeo Bhandari raised the issue of lathicharge on pro-reservation doctors by police at the Patna Medical College where students, he alleged, were beaten up after they were asked to mention their caste.
Mr Kalraj Mishra, BJP, whose attempts to raise the issue of lathicharge in the House were shouted down by Mr Mandal and Mr Bhandari, said he totally condemned the incident.
There were brutal police lathicharges elsewhere, including in Delhi, Mumbai and Lucknow, and a probe should be held at all these places, he said.
The Bihar Chief Minister had ordered an inquiry in his state and other governments should follow suit, he demanded.
Mr Bagrodia (Cong) also denounced police brutalities against the agitating doctors.
