Pharmacies threaten stir against IRB action
Imphal, May 22 (UNI) Pharmacy owners of Manipur have threatened to close down all pharmacies in the state if action was not taken against Indian Reserve Battallion personnel, who had beaten up four pharmacists.
Salesmen and pharmacists also staged protest yesterday against the assault on a salesman near the Regional Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS) on Saturday night.
The owners said the IRB personnel should apologise and the government should suspend those involved in the incident and reimburse the money spent on the treatment of Th Noren, who was hospitalised after the assault.
The pharmacists said after the incident near the RIMS, there was a tussle between the two parties. They found that one of the party was the wife of a senior police officer. Later, some IRB personnel came and started beating up the people, it was stated.
