Patna Mayor surrenders before local court

Patna, May 22 (UNI) Patna Mayor Krishna Murari Yadav today surrendered before a local court in connection with the murder of Patna Water Boards chairperson Ashok Kumar Yadav.

The Mayor was later released on bail.

The Mayor surrendered in the court of Chief Judicial Magistrate Sushma Sinha praying for a regular bail.

After hearing arguments of both sides, the court released him on regular bail on furnishing the bail bond of Rs. 10,000 with two sureties of like amount.

According to the FIR, the Patna Water Board Chairperson was killed inside his office when criminals hurled bombs at him on July 25, 2005. The Mayor is a named accused in the case and he faced charges of conspiring the murder.
