Pakistani MoS Foreign Affairs leaves for Argentina, Mexico

Islamabad, May 22 (UNI) Pakistan's State Minister for Foreign Affairs Makhdum Khusro Bakhtyar today left for Argentina and Mexico for the inaugural rounds of high level bilateral political consultations, following President Pervez Musharraf's landmark visit to Latin American countries in December 2004.

The Minister will participate in the bilateral political consultations in Buenos Aires and Mexico City on May 24 and 26 respectively.

''The agenda of the consultations includes deliberations on the whole range of bilateral relations, as well as coordination of the respective positions on important regional and global issues of common interest,'' Foreign Office spokesperson Tasneem Aslam said here.

The discussions will take stock of the progress made in bilateral cooperation since the President's visit to work out modalities to institutionalise relations and to further broaden and enhance cooperation in different fields.

President's visit to Latin American countries December 2004 had resulted in signing of a number of bilateral agreements, including the agreements on holding of periodic high-level political consultations with Argentina and Mexico, the important Latin American countries.
