Opposition is in disarray: Cong
New Delhi, May 22 (UNI) The Congress today said while the UPA government was celebrating its two years in office listing its achievements, the Opposition is in disarray.
The Congress is missing a responsible opposition, which is mutually opposed to each other due to infighting, Congress Spokesman Abhishek Singhvi said.
Briefing newsmen here, he said while the Congress is forging ahead, the Opposition is pursuing negative politics. On the one hand, the Congress is assessing the implementation of the promises made to the people, on the other the Opposition is engaged in a politics of misleading the people. The Opposition, he said, believed in creating furore.
Mr Singh listed the Right to Information and Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme as the major initiatives taken by the Government.
The Railways, he said, had put its surplus at Rs 14,500 crore which was likely to increase to Rs 20,000 crore.
The Government had inherited a legacy of inflation of 8 per cent in 2004 which had been reduced to 5 per cent, which is far better than the NDA regime, he said.
Asked about the current trend of crash in Sensex, Mr Singhvi said there was no question of the fall overshadowing the UPA Government's two-year work. ''We do not react to daily movement of the market.'' About Tamil Nadu passing a resolution about Congress sharing power in the State, he said no final decision had been taken in this regard. The party was currently extending outside support to the state government. Without a final approval by the high command, no decision could be implemented, he said.
