Nitish for special status to Bihar
Patna, May 22 (UNI) Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar today urged the Centre to accord special status to the state for giving impetus to the pace of development.
Mr Kumar told newspersons here that the Centre should also provide a special package for the states development.
He said the six-month rule of the present NDA government was full of challenges, adding the government had taken several important decisions and these were being implemented to tone up functioning in various departments.
To a query on completion of two-year rule of the UPA government at the Centre, he said the rule was marked by growing unemployment, regional imbalances, problems of farmers, worrisome situation of intenral security and increasing influence of the US.
Mr Kumar said the government was taking all steps for ensuring economic prosperity of the state and also solve basic problems of the people. He said the work of his government would be more visible after the Panchayat election and the monsoon.
