National Sample Survey Organisation teams to tour villages
Badwani, MP, May 22 (UNI) National Sample Survey Organisation teams would undertake tours of submergence-affected villages and rehabilitation sites in connection with the preparation of the Shunglu Committee report to be submitted to the Prime Minister's Office in the context of the Sardar Sarovar Project, official sources said.
As many as, 60 two-member teams would tour Badwani, Dhar, Jhabua and Khargone districts till June 15. Twenty-two teams, which are to touch 57 villages in this district, today conducted system-related discussions with Narmada Valley Development Authority, revenue, police and forest officials.
''As per the earlier schedule, the touring was to begin today but the members will venture from tomorrow morning,'' said Collector Arun Tiwari.
Police and other officials would accompany the teams for providing security and cooperating in other ways. Members would gather information pertaining to oustees' problems, rehabilitation and compensation before submitting it to the Shunglu Committee.
''The Narmada Bachao Andolan (NBA) will monitor the teams' method of functioning,'' said NBA official Ashish Mandloi.
