Life returns to normal in Kashmir after yesterdays fidayeen attack
Srinagar, May 22 (UNI) Life returned to normal after yesterday's general strike and fidayeen attack on a Congress rally in which seven people were killed and scores injured.
The general strike call was given by the Hurriyat Conference (Omar) on the 16th death anniversay of Mirwaiz Moulvi Farooq and 4th anniversary of late Abdul Gani Lone. Both the leaders were killed by unidentified gunmen.
Shops and business establishments reopened this morning and transport was plying on all routes normally. Work in government offices, banks and other commerical establishments was normal.
Situation near the Sher-e-Kashmir Municipal park, where two fidayeen in police uniform resorted to indiscriminate firing leaving five people dead and scores, including three senior police officers, wounded, was also normal.
Work in the nearby post office and other government offices was normal and traffic on the route was plying as usual.
