Lankan refugee influx continues
Rameswaram, Tamil Nadu, May 22 : The heavy influx of refugees into Tamil Nadu continued today with 80 refugees arriving in this coastal town in the wake of heightened tension in Sri Lanka due to clashes between LTTE and the military.
With this, a total of 1,460 refugees have arrived here from Sri Lanka during the last 90 days, official sources said.
The 80 refugees, comprising 21 families, came in five Lankan boats from Trincomalee area.
While three boats landed at Dhanushkodi, one landed at Rameswaram and the other at Olaikuda near here.
After ascertaining their identity, they were sent to the Mandapam Refugee Camp.
