Lalu demands production of all original documents
Patna, May 22 (UNI) Railway Minister Lalu Prasad, through a petition, demanded the special CBI judge of Patna Munilal Paswan to direct the investigating agency to produce original documents on basis of which the chargesheet was filed against him in a multi-crore fodder scam.
Chitaranjan Prasad Sinha, Counsel for Mr Prasad, argued that despite a clear cut direction of the court, the CBI did not submit all the original documents.
Deputy Law advisor of the CBI, L R Ansari, pleaded that almost all the original documents of the case had already been filed in the court and the rest would be submitted if they were required.
Mr Ansari requested the court to direct the accused people to continue arguments on their discharge petitions.
After hearing both sides, the special judge fixed June 7 as the next date of hearing the matter.
Earlier, 11 accused, including the Railway Minister and former Bihar Chief Minister Jagannath Mishra had filed discharge petitions in the case related to fradulent withdrawal of over Rs 46 lakh from Bhagalpur and Banka treasuries of Bihar Animal Husbandry Department.
The case was registred in 1996. There are 40 accused in the case.
