India to host the Xth Commonwealth Conference in March next yr

New Delhi, May 22 (UNI) India, along with Malaysia and Singapore, will for the first time host the Xth Commonwealth Conference to be held in March next year.

A high powered team from India will participate in the celebrations to commemorate 50 years of the Commonwealth Study Conference at the Buckingham Palace on May 24, 2006, where the Palace, in the presence of Conference Founder and President the Duke of Edinburgh and Conference Chairman for the Xth Commonwealth Study Conference Dhruv Sawhney, will announce the forthcoming Conference to be held in India and give an update on the Conference programme.

About 53 member countries will participate in the Conference.

The Commonwealth Study Conference, first started in 1956 by HRH, brings young leaders from Industry, Government, Trade Unions, NGOs for an intensive two-week learning and experience sharing process.

All earlier Conferences have been hosted by UK, Canada, Australia and New Zealand.

As preparations for the Conference, the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), which will organise the event, has launched a special website- www.csc2007.com for inviting applications from participants.

The last date for receiving applications is August 30, 2006.
