Girls fare better in Pondy Plus Two exams
Pondicherry, May 22 (UNI) Girls fared better than boys in the Plus Two examinations in Pondicherry when the results were declared today.
Pondicherry registered an overall pass percentage of 74.15 per cent, which was higher by 2.13 per cent compared to last year, Chief Minister N Rangasamy told a press conference here today.
The Pondicherry region registered 73.87 per cent pass percentage, which was higher by 0.98 per cent, while Karaikal region had 75.58 pass percentage, which was higher by 8.02 per cent than last year, Mr Rangasamy said.
Of the 4,514 boys who appeared for the examination, 3,051 passed while 3,638 of the 4,867 girls cleared the examinations, he added.
Six private schools -- five in Pondicherry and one in Karaikal region - registered cent per cent pass this year.
Two students of the St Josephs of Cluny Girls Higher Secondary School here secured 1,182 marks out of 1,200 to bag the top position in the Union Territory while another girl from the same school secured 1,178 marks for the second place.
A student from the St Patrick School bagged the third position securing 1,176 marks, he said.
