Edible oil worth Rs 40 lakh destroyed in fire
Latur, Maharashtra, May 22 (UNI) Edible oil, estimated at Rs 40 lakh, was gutted in a major fire that broke out in the godowns of Om Enterprises, a leading Vanaspati oil distributor, in Ganjgolai market in the city here today.
The fire broke out at around 0500 hrs and the fire brigade was alerted at 0530 hrs, sources said.
At least eight fire engines, including three from Latur, and those from neighbouring Osmanabad, Nanded, Solapur, Ambejogai towns wre rushed to the spot and they put the blaze under control by 1000 hrs, Chief Fire Brigade officer Ashok Sutar told UNI. There was no harm to human life.
Mr Sutar alleged that Om Enterprises had been negligent in following safety norms in the godown. Violation of the safety norms had led to the fire, he said.
