Coop loans for agriculture soon: Mani
Thanjavur, Tamil Nadu, May 22 (UNI) The agricultural cooperative banks in the state will soon start giving crop loans for the forthcoming agricultural season, Cooperatives and Statistics Minister Ko Si Mani has said.
Speaking to newspersons at Kumbakonam, here, last night, Mr Mani said the DMK Government would stick to its election promise of disbursing Rs 1,000 crore in agriculture loans.
Chief Minister M Karunanidhi had announced waiver of cooperative loans worth Rs 6,886 crore soon after assuming power. Similarly, it would also abide by the poll-promise of granting new loans worth Rs 1000 crore. This would be a great boon for the poor farmers in the state, he added.
The Minister said as the level in the Mettur Reservoir was satisfactory, water will be released on the usual date.
He also said elections to cooperative bodies would be held soon in the state.
