BJP takes exception to CM's 'unilateral' announcements
Pondicherry, May 22 (UNI) The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) here today took strong exception to the 'unilateral' announcement of schemes by Chief Minister N Rangasamy.
Addressing a press conference, BJP State President R Kesavalu said while the party welcomed the announcements, it also condemned the manner in which they were made as certain policy decisions like providing ten kg free rice to all ration cardholders had to be taken during a Cabinet meeting.
Welcoming the annoucement on local body elections, Mr Kesavulu said the Congress must ensure they were held as per schedule.
He said people of Karaikal had taught the Congress a fitting lesson for neglecting the region by not returning any of the four Congress candidates from there.
The BJP leader claimed Mr Rangasamy could win by a huge margin of 28,000 votes as he functioned more as the 'Chief Minister of his Thattanchavady constituency.' If this attitude continued with Mr Rangasamy neglecting other constituencies, then the party will be forced to organise agitations, he cautioned.
Mr Kesavulu also asked the government to make its stand clear on the issue of government quota in the private medical colleges.
He said the BJP was growing in the South and had a good chance in the coming years to succeed at the hustings.
