'Bihar has only 5.13 rural electrified households'
New Delhi, May 22: The Government today said Bihar had the dubious distinction of having barely 5.13 per cent rural electrified households, the lowest in the country.
Union Power Minister Sushilkumar Shinde told the Rajya Sabha in a written reply that as per the Census 2001, it was followed by Jharkhand with 9.99 per cent of rural electrified households, Assam (16.54), Orissa (19.35), Uttar Pradesh (19.84) and West Bengal (20.27).
Under the Rajiv Gandhi Grameen Vidyutikaran Yojana (RGGVY), the Government enivsaged to provide access to electricity to all rural households over a period of four years, he said.
