Ajay Chautala questions CBI's impartiality
Kaithal, May 22 (UNI) Indian National Lok Dal (INLD) leader Ajay Chautala, son of former Chief minister Om Parkash Chautala, today criticised the CBI for allegedly valuing the assets of the Chautala family at about Rs 1500 crore on the basis of a 'chargesheet' prepared by the Congress.
''The CBI has made these disclosures on the basis of a chargesheet submitted by state Congress leaders and the location and valuation of assets as declared by the CBI totally matched with the list of the Congress party,'' Mr Chautala said while talking to reporters here.
The CBI had raided over two dozen premises of the Chautala family recently following which media reports had quoted CBI officials saying the total worth of the assets owned by the family were valued at about Rs 1500 crore.
Mr Ajay Chautala said it was strange that their premises were searched in the early morning and with in half an hour the CBI gave details of the properties and their market value through electronic media.
This, he alleged, had put a question mark on the impartiality of the premier investigation agency of the country.
He said the State vigilance Bureau had made out a similar case against him a decade ago but they were exonerated by the Court.
He alleged that the Congress had always tried to implicate its political opponents in such cases which could not be substantiated in courts later.
The INLD leader alleged former chief ministers Parkash Singh Badal, Prem Kumar Dhumal, Mayawati, Chander Babu Naidu and Jayalalitha were all implicated in various cases at the behest of the Congress.
