7 killed, 1 injured as train hits tipper
Hubli, May 22 (UNI) Seven people, including three women and two girls, were killed and one injured when a tipper in which they were travelling was hit by the Hubli-bound Janashatabdi train at an unmanned level crossing between Byadagi and Devargudda stations this afternoon.
Police said the mishap occurred when the tipper, carrying construction labourers, was proceeding to the work site at Shikaripura in Shimoga district.
While six of them died on the spot, one succumbed to injures at the hospital.
The injured has been shifted to the nearest government hospital.
