11 security personnel among 22 injured in Srinagar blasts
Srinagar, May 22 (UNI) Militants struck yet again today hurling three hand grenades in the city causing injuries to twenty-two people half of them security personnel.
These attacks came barely 48 hours before the 2nd Round Table conference tobe held here on May 24-25 on Kashmir.
Official sources said militants this afternoon hurled a hand grenade towards a Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) naka party at Fateh Kadal in the interior of the city at 1630 hours.
Four CRPF personnel were injured in the blast, sources said adding that militants managed to escape.
Official sources said militants hurled a hand grenade towards security forces at Baba Dawood Khaki bridge in the down town under police station Khanyar this afternoon.
Two police personnel and a civilian were injured in the blast, they said adding the injured were hospitalised.
Official sources said militants this afternoon hurled a hand grenade towards a flying squad vehicle at Kathidrawaza Rainawari in the down town city.
The grenade exploded on the roadside causing injuries to 15 people, including five policemen. The injured, which include two women and a two-year-old child were admitted to different hospitals, sources said.
The grenade attack in the city came barely 24 hours after two fidayeen in police uniform resorted to indiscriminate firing during a Congress rally at Sher-e-Kashmir Municipal Park near here yesterday in which seven people were killed and scores, including two senior police officers, wounded.
The Pakistan based militant outfit Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) has claimed responsibility for the Rainawari and Dawood Khahi bridge.
