NEC funds not utilised in State
Aizawl, May 21: Mizoram ranked at number three from the bottom among the North Eastern states in utilisation of NEC funds.
Mizoram has Rs 3766.23 lakhs in balance for the various development funds sanctioned by the NEC during 2005-2006 fiscal, NEC secretary HV Lalringa highlighted in a meeting which reviewed utilisation of the NEC funds by several departments in Mizoram.
The meeting discussed on ways to utilise the funds, which had been sanctioned by the NEC.
Announcing that the NEC has allocated Rs 600 crore for Mizoram in the current financial year, Lalringa urged the departments' officers to give more efforts towards fund utilisation.
Voicing concern over Mizoram having the highest percentage of cancer cases, Lalringa stressed the need to set up a Cancer Research&Training Institute in Mizoram which can also be beneficial for the whole of the North East states.
Among the state's departments, eight departments, which have balance unutilised funds include Animal Husbandry&Vety Rs 203 lakhs, State Planning Rs 100 lakhs, Science, Technology&Environment Rs 4.98 lakhs, Sports&Youth Services Rs 161.12 lakhs, Industries (Geology&Mining) Rs 10.33 lakhs, Medical&Hospital Education Rs 103.60 lakhs, PWD Rs 3,047 lakhs and Power&Electricity Rs 136.20 lakhs.
