Rajiv Gandhi's 15th death anniversary observed
New Delhi, May 21: The 15th death anniversary of former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi Was observed today with Vice President Bhairon Singh Shekhawat and Prime Minister Manmohan Singh paying floral tributes at 'Virbhumi' on the banks of river Yamuna here.
Congress President Sonia Gandhi, her son Rahul and daughter Priyanka also paid homage. Several leaders, including Minister of State for Urban Development Ajay Maken and Delhi Chief Minister Shiela Dikshit and party workers also visited 'Virbhumi' An all religion prayer meet was held on the occasion.
Many functions were being organised in the capital, to mark the day that was also being observed as 'Anti Terrorist Day'.
Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee would observe martyrdom day with DPCC President R B Sharma reading out a pleadge to party members to work for communal amity, social unity, and fighting terrorism.
Institute of socialist education and freedom movement memorial committee would convene a public meeting to observe the Anti Terrorist day.
M P Moti Lal Vora will inaugurate the meet while Union Minister Saifuddin Soz will be the Chief Guest. Many MPs and MLAs including Delhi Minister Yoganand Shastri, would address the meeting.
