Police rescue child labour in shackles

Kendrapada, May 21: Police here rescued a 10-year-old child, who was allegedly kept in shackles by the owner of the hotel.

The police has arrested the owner of the hotel and his son.

On a tip-off, police rushed to the spot and rescued the child from one Jayaram Majhi (10) of Brahmaipal village under Daitary police station.

Later, the boy lodged an FIR with the local police station, alleging that Raghunath Das, the owner of the hotel and his son took him to the hotel while he was moving at Dala chhack near his sister's house. They assaulted him and later kept him in shackles.

Police said Jayaram Majhi, who was working in the hotel a year back, had fled from the hotel with Rs 1500. On Thursday, the hotel owner spotted him in the Dala Chhak and took him to the hotel to recover the stolen amount.
