Periyakaruppan is new TN HR

Chennai, May 21 : Tamil Nadu Slum Clearance Minister K R Periyakaruppan has been made the Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowments (HR&CE) Minister in the place of Mr P T R Palanivel Rajan who died of heart attack yesterday.

Consequent to the demise of Mr Rajan, the portfolios of two Ministers had been reallocated on the advice of Chief Minister M Karunanidhi, a Raj Bhavan release said here today.

Accordingly, Slum Clearance Board, Accommodation Control and Wasteland Development, hitherto held by Mr Periakaruppan, had been reallocated to Housing Minister Suba Thangavelan, in addition to the subjects held by him.

While Mr Thangavelan had been re-designated as Minister for Housing and Slum Clearance, Mr Periyakaruppan would be the HR and CE Minister, the release added.
