'Nitish Kumar misleads people'

Patna, May 21 : Alleging that Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar was misleading the people on the issue of mass killings, the LJP today accused the state government of patronising the dreaded criminal gangs of Ashok Mahto and Akhilesh Singh.

The Ashok Mahto and Akhilesh Singh gangs were reportedly behind the killings of several people, including children.

LJP MLA Maheshwar Hajari and party MLC and spokesperson Sanjay Singh told newpersons here that the NDA governments failure to rein in criminals was now a known fact as the anti-socials were striking at their will while the leaders continued to hold meetings ''inside air-conditioned rooms''.

They said members of most backward castes were targetted in the recent massacres of Nalanda and Sheikhpura districts.

The LJP leaders alleged that the Chief Minister was interested only in protecting his vote bank and taking common people a the ride.

They alleged that Bihar did not have a ''government worth the name'' and wondered how long Mr Kumar would wait before he finally took steps against the anti-socials.

They demanded a compensation of Rs five lakh for the family of those killed in the Sheikhpura massacre last night.

They asked the government to provide jobs to one eligible member of each family.
