Militant shot dead, weapon seized
Imphal, May 21: In three different incidents during past 24 hours Assam Rifles personnel have killed a suspected militant, recovered arms and ammunition belonging to NSCN (K) and nabbed two hardcore militants.
In a major operation by 4 Assam Rifles at Heingang a hardcore Lt of Peoples' Liberation Army (PLA) was gunned down yesterday. The cadre was identified as SS Lt Feroz Ahmed.
The team of 4 Assam Rifles has been tracking the cadre since past one month. One 9 mm Browning Pistol 2 magazine and 15 live rounds were recovered from the slain cadre. The body of the cadre was handed over to Heingang Police Station.
Meanwhile, troops at Sekmai, Imphal, intercepted a Tata Sumo and nabbed three occupants with weapons, Assam Rifles spokesperson said.
The three were identified as Pao Thing Kuki, Nagaland, Thangsei, Nagaland and Lian Pu Manipur.
One AK-56 Rifle, two M-21 Rifles (Chinese), one carbine and 200 live ammunition of AK-47 were recovered from their possession.
On investigation it was learnt that the miscreants were smuggling weapons from Moreh to Kohima for NSCN (K) outfit.
In another incident troops of 22 Maratha, apprehended two senior PLA cadres along with huge cache of arms and ammunition.
On further operation after interrogation one AK-56 Rifle with bayonet, one magazine of AK-56 Rifle, ammunition of AK-56, one 9 mm Pistol, magazine and live ammunition of 9 mm were recovered.
Both the cadres were handed over to Police Station Mayang Imphal.
