BJP's Karnataka LC nominees announced

New Delhi, May 21 : BJP President Rajnath Singh today announced the names of party candidates for the biennial elections to four Legislative Council seats in Karnataka.

While Mr Janardhana Reddy will contest from the Bellary seat, Mr Thontadarya will be the party nominee from Mysore City, an official spokesman here said.

Ms Vimala Gowda and Mr D S Veeraiah will both file their candidature from Bangalore City.

Meanwhile, senior BJP MP from Chikodi Ramesh Jigajinagi has lodged a strong protest against the mode of selection adopted by the state BJP party.

In a statement, Mr Jigajinagi said that he did not differ with the selection of these four candidates and his protests were against the bypassing of the state party board, the body empowered to make the selection.

He said he would be communicating his objections to the party President and other top leaders.
