Vizag would benefit from urban development: PM

Visakhapatnam, May 20 : Prime Minister Manmohan today said the Central Government is paying attention to urban development.

Speaking after launching the Jawaharlal Nehru National Urban Renewal Mission here, he said he wanted Visakhapatnam to benefit from this mission.

Dr Singh said the Central Government has sanctioned projects worth Rs 100 crore for water supply and drainage. The Government would ensure additional road projects for Rs 100 crore in the city, he added.

He said the work on the expansion of the Visakhapatnam Steel Plant was launched at a cost of over Rs 8,600 crore. This will strengthen the industrial base of visakhapatnam and take it to the next level of development, he added.

The Prime Minister lauded the steps taken by Dr Reddy for the development of the State and assured Centre's assistance in all possible manner.
