Suspected polio case detected in MP
Shajapur, (MP), May 20 (UNI) Amid concerted efforts to eradicate polio from India, a fresh case of suspected polio was detected in Shajapur district of Madhya Pradesh.
A five-year-old girl Roopa Mewada, whose family had a history of polio, was found tottering at Bagoda village, 16 km from the district town, and was admitted to the district hospital yesterday.
Her elder sister and paternal uncle are polio-stricken.
Civil Surgeon Dr Bhavbhuti Singh Maina said the polio case would be confirmed on receiving report from a Mumbai laboratory, where the samples had been sent.
The girl, who was earlier given polio drops under the nation-wide campaign, was being given preliminary treatment.
World Health Organisation's regional representative from Indore is scheduled to arrive here to investigate the case, Dr Maina added.
