Savarkar's statue to be unveiled by Modi

Mumbai, May 20 : A 13-foot bronze statue of Vinayak Damodar Savarkar will be unveiled here by Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi on May 28.

A release issued by Veer Savarkar Memorial Committee said Mayor Datta Dalvi will be the chief guest at the function while State BJP chief Nitin Gadkari and senior RSS functionary Dada Idate will be the special guests on the occasion.

On May 24, mayor Dalvi and senior BJP leader Gopinath Munde will inaugurate a garden, named after 'Veer Savarkar', at Poisar in north Mumbai.

A three-day lecture series too has been organised from May 25 which will be addressed among others by renowned writer Prof Ram Shewalkar, noted journalist Muzaffar Hussain and Sachchidanand Shewade. The lecture series would be inaugurated by Shiv Sena MP Manohar Joshi.
