MNCs recruit 1258 JKC students in AP

Hyderabad, May 20 :As many as 1258 engineering students of the Jawahar Knowledge Centres (JKCs) were recruited by various Multi-National Companies (MNCs) this year, Andhra Pradesh Government IT Secretary Ratna Prabha said here today.

JKC is a State Government initiative to promote Human Resource by training engineering students. It is spread over 43 centres in 23 districts with 164 participating colleges and 40 IT companies.

Announcing the results, she said out of the 6000 students, 1258 were recruited as against 235 from 1026 in the last year.

Satyam tops the list with the highest number of 483 recruits and Wipro follows with an intake of 406 freshers. Infosys recruited 154 and IBM 151, she said.

Chief Minister YS Rajasekhara Reddy would be felicitating the JKC students during a function at Ravindra Bharati tomorrow evening, she said.More than 85 per cent of successful students are from the rural background, she added.

Referring to the future plans, she said the JKCs would be launched in 11 reputed degree colleges in the next academic year. A special programme for unemployed graduates named Finishing School Initiative' also would be launched to train them in the lines of JKC, she added.
