Broad gauge conversion all over the country: Lalu

Kanpur, May 20: Railway Minister Lalu Prasad said here today all the railway lines will be be converted into broad gauge by next year, which will improve the movement of trains in the country and also boost the income of Railways.

Mr Prasad inaugurated a broad gauge rail line between Kanpur and Farukhabad under North Eastern Railway at Anwarganj and flagged off a passenger train.

Whlie addressing a pulic gathering here, he said the Railway ministry had earned good profit in the fiscal and praised the employees' efforts in this regard.

''Railways is committed to providing better facilities to the people. The profits will increase only if the interiors of the country will be joined through railway routes,'' he added.

He said the Railways had fixed a target of Rs 20000 crores profit in the current financial year and was quite sure the target would be achieved without any problem.
